The regional workforce training center has doubled the capacity of its apprenticeship program, adding tracks in industrial maintenance, welding, and automation technology for the coming academic year.
Apprentices split their time between classroom instruction and paid placements with local employers, graduating with both a nationally recognized credential and two years of on-the-job experience.
Employers fund a share of the program in exchange for early access to graduates, an arrangement that has kept placement rates above ninety percent since the center opened.
Applications for the fall cohort open next month, with priority given to residents transitioning from industries affected by recent automation.
